Don Hume JIT Slide

The JIT Slide has been one of Don Hume’s top sellers for the last 15 years. The JIT (which stands for Just In Time) Slide was built on a idea that a belt holster could have a smaller footprint, yet be just as stable as more traditional pancake style belt holster with belt slots in the front and rear.

So why is the JIT such a popular seller?

#1 – Price – With an MSRP of $29.80 (at the time of this writing) and a typical online price ranging from $23 to $27, the JIT is an excellent value for the money, especially compared to similar holster styles from other brands. Similar holsters from other makers tend to run in the $30 to $35 range, and when you’re pinching pennies, that’s a decent amount of money saved.

#2 – Performance – In addition to an attractive price, the JIT Slide also performs exceptionally well as a higher riding belt holster. The unique belt slot configuration on the holster allows it to take up less space on the belt yet offers a secure and stable platform for the weapon. Pictures offer a much better explanation of what I mean. Below you will see pics of the backside of the JIT Slide and a Don Hume H710, which is more traditional style of belt holster in a pancake variation. Notice that, for the JIT, the distance between the 2 belts is much less when compared to the distance between the belt slots on the H710.

One potential disadvantage to having the belt slots spaced out centers on the holster mouth stretching closed when the weapon is drawn. The design of the JIT solves that problem.

#3 – Versatility – As the JIT is an open bottomed holster, it will accept pistols from the same family regardless of the barrel length. For example, the JIT Slide model the Glock 19, will also fit any of the larger or smaller Glock weapons in 9mm or .40 cal. The JIT for the Colt 1911 is the same in that it will fit any of the non-railed 1911 weapons, ranging from the 5″ model all the way down to the 3″ Defender model.

Available in both black and brown to fit semi-automatics and revolvers, the JIT is worth checking out. Shop for a JIT Slide here.

I agree that the Don Hume JIT slide is a great holster. I have several of these holsters and they are my preferred choice for OWB carry. They ride close to the body and position the firearm at the right height for easy concealment and quick access.

Don Hume holsters are a great value and Gunner’s Alley customer service is second to none. Both are winners in my book.
