NJ Requires BB & Pellet Guns to be Registered

In the ever growing fight over gun control, there comes a time when laws and regulations become almost comical, and the state of NJ has now reached that point. I was reading through some gun related info, and saw that the state of NJ is now requiring BB guns and pellet guns to be licensed with the state.

The original article can be seen here:

Like a large percentage of current CCW holders, my first “gun” was a BB gun at the age of 10. Once I proved that I could handle the gun and was safe with it, I was “promoted” (as my father called it) to a more powerful pellet gun. These types of “guns” are really a rite-of-passage into what I would call real firearms at a later date in life.

Personally, to require someone to actually license one of these is ridiculous. Somewhere in the fine state of NJ, there will be some young boy or girl who won’t be introduced to the great pastime of shooting because Mom or Dad won’t take the time to get the BB registered.

And, judging from the article, this isn’t one of those laws without teeth or plans to enfore it. In October of 2013, some poor guy was arrested with an “unlicensed” airsoft gun in his own yard.

Remind me to never move to NJ.
