For the last 10 or so years, we’ve been trying to get Don Hume to offer a clip-on IWB holster (like their popular H715M W/C model) with a bodyshield. About 2 years ago, while meeting with them at the SHOT show, we finally convinced them to consider it. The first model they offered to us to “try” on a test basis was one for a Glock 19. After we sold all that we had in the first week, the rest was history.
To clarify. the model with the bodyshield (the H715M WCS) is just a variation of the basic H715M W/C, which is the standard clip-on IWB holster. The only change is in the addition of an integrated leather bodyshield.
A common question we received: What’s a bodyshield and what does it do? A bodyshield (also called a body protector or sweatshield) is just a part of the holster that is designed to ride between the wearer and pistol. It’s designed to keep the handgun from coming into direct contact with the wearer. Some handguns have edges or parts of the handgun itself that are sharp and can be uncomfortable if they contact or rub against the body.
While not as popular as the standard H715M W/C quite yet, this model seems to keep growing in popularity as the bodyshield is a favorable option. This model is especially popular with single action guns like the 1911’s.
It’s available for both semi-autos and revolvers, and comes in both black and saddle brown leather. If you are looking for an affordable clip-on IWB with a bodyshield, then the WCS model is worth checking out. Shop for an H715M WCS here.
I bought this from Gunners about two months ago for my Glock 26 and LOVE IT. The bodyshield makes all the difference, and it is very comfortable. This is a well made holster that is easy to grab and put it on. I give it a 10.
I sure hope they expand the offerings in the H715M WCS. I would love to get one for my Kimber Ultra Carry II. I have the H715 without the body shield but living in the deep south that would be a nice upgrade.
I have several Don Hume holsters and am very pleased. I have used a H715 for my daily carry for several years and the holster is still in excellent condition. Which is surprising as I don’t baby it at all.
